Check your shop's rank
Before you tune a listing, it helps to know where you actually stand. CraftRank shows your position for any search term inside Keyword Explorer, read straight from the listings ranking for that term. There is no separate lookup and no quota cost. This workflow takes under a minute.
We will use the search term drake album poster as a worked example.
Step 1: Search the term
Open Keyword Explorer and search the term you want to place for. The result loads the top listings competing for it, each with its live rank.
Step 2: Open the rank check
Find the Where does your shop rank? panel, above the shared tags. Enter your Etsy shop name and choose Check rank.
If you have connected your shop under My Shop, the panel fills in your shop name and runs on its own, so you land on every result already knowing your position.
CraftRank scans the results on the page for your shop and reports your best rank for the term, plus every one of your listings that places, each linking through to Listing Explorer. Because it reads results the search already loaded, it uses none of your monthly quota.
Step 3: Read the result
- A rank, for example "Ranks #7" your shop places inside the tracked top results for the term. Lower is better.
- Rank movement if we have seen this term before, the check shows how far you have moved since the last time it was searched. Movement builds up as a term is searched again over time, so a term looked at for the first time will show a position with no movement yet.
- "Not found in the top results" your listings rank below the tracked results for the term, or your shop name was entered differently from the one on Etsy. CraftRank tracks the leading results for a term, not the entire long tail, so a shop outside them will not appear here.
Step 4: Turn it into action
- You place, but well down the results you are relevant for the term but beaten on the signals Etsy weighs. Open Close the tag gap to match the tags the leaders share, then run the Listing SEO Audit to fix the rest.
- You do not place at all decide whether the term is worth chasing. Check its Opportunity score first, and if the market is dominated, look at the suggested keywords for a narrower sub-angle you can realistically own.
- You place well protect the position. Note the term and come back after any change to confirm you have held or climbed.
A note on how rank is measured
The rank you see is the position in Etsy's public search results at the time of the search, without personalisation or ads. It is the same unbiased ordering every buyer sees, not your own logged-in view. Rank moves constantly, so treat a single reading as a snapshot and re-check a term over time to see the trend rather than the noise.
